 Betting- what would Jesus do
Topic Originator: Number57

I always thought that Christianity preached that betting was a sin. Greed and all that.

Has this changed?

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

You know, it's not easy being the new Messiah, especially when you have as much housework to do as I do!

So, quite often, I find that I don't really have much time to grab a proper bite to eat.

Well, that's until I discovered new "Instant Pot Meals"..

New "Instant Pot Meals"!!

Just add boiling water to this delicious "Fish and Loaf" flavoured instant snack, and you'll have a tasty meal in seconds...

With enough left over to fill twelve baskets!!!

New "Instant Pot Meals"... it's a bloody miracle...

Like most things in the bible there are bits that say gambling is ok and others that say It's not. Just cherry pick the bit you like and do what you want.

Or you could use a chain ref and figure out the anomalies.

I am not aware of any particular reference. The link I posted seems fair comment I recon.

Nothing wrong with a wee affordable punt for excitement and amusement. The sin is letting it control you.
Jesus turned water into wine but he didn't advocate alcoholism.

Just do what you want, and say it's your interpretation of what the big book of fables says.
That's what all the believers do, they interpret the book to fit with whatever scenario they need it to.
What chance do these poor believers have when one of the first songs they learn is has the line "Jesus love me this I know, because the bible tells me so" or words to that effect.
Bottom line IMO, this is the very starting point of the brainwashing, and these poor people then get their brainwashed parents telling them it's all true. 🤣

Still more believable than some entity that lives in the sky, and made everything out of whatever it pulled out its ringpiece.
You lot don't smell a rat when it refuses to take responsibility for the evil it must surely have created, after all, you lot believe it created EVERYTHING, so it must have created the capacity to carry out evil too.
Created famine.
Created war.
Created greed.
Pioneered mass murder of innocents after creating the capacity to do so.
Allows mass murder in its name

If it does exist, why on earth would anyone want to "worship" such a thing?

Lol.
I have no intentions of falling out with anyone over this parrot, even if you call me pondscum (which is a bizarre statement considering you don't believe pondscum can evolve at all, let alone evolve enough to post on here) 😳

None of this explains why this sky entity created the capacity to commit evil?

Jesus, if he existed, was the David Icke of his day. It's jus that society back then was too uneducated/unenlightened to call him out.

Erm...he said he was God. They crucified him for blasphemy. I would say they called him out.

Other than that you are either joking or taking irony to a whole new level.
