Anyone on here know why the sister in law doesn't get STV2 on her freeview in Dunfermline (bottom West end of Garvock hill). ... but I get it on my freeview in Rosyth ?
I can't figure it out .... online help is sketchy at best πŸ˜•
Cheers

Postcode isn't applicable with terrestial reception tuning options, Freeview only available via an aerial.

Could it be as simple as needing to retune the set ?

We can't get the Glasgow STV2, must be on the limit of the transmission area.

Incidentally, Freeview are doing a channel update on Wed. 2nd August - here's the You View advice

"We can't get the Glasgow STV2, must be on the limit of the transmission area."

STV2 replaced STV Edinburgh and STV Glasgow albeit they are slight regional variations - I think there is also plans for an Aberdeen and Dundee local version?

Stv2 is transmitted on about half power compared to the other channels. If you try to manually tune in to frequency 30 you may get sound and no picture.

Yeah I retuned (auto scan) and now her channels go 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10 .... and so on.
No channel 8 ... which is where (according to my freeview set-up in rosyth ) STV2 should be.
I suppose I'm best waiting til the channel update on the 2nd of August , then take it from there.
Could the age of her freeview box be the issue ? It's 2 years old.
Mind you mines is about the same and I'm receiving it no probs (with a signal strength of 70%).
Thanks for all the advice .... I may have mentioned before that I'm not much of a techy 😁

I'm in Crossgates and never got stv Glasgow or Edinburgh and get stv main news from the west as it was the best angle to receive the most freeview channels

STV Edinburgh & STV Glasgow became STV2. If your aerial is directed to Craigkelly (Burntisland) you'll get STV2 because it is in the original STV Edinburgh reception area. If your aerial is directed towards Blackhill (a lot of Dunfermline & West Fife Villages) you won't get STV2 as it was originally STV Glasgow (low power transmitter) and was designed only to be received in Glasgow & it's environs. However this may or may not change on 2/8, information below mentions it is to change "by" Dec 2018

Well explained DBS, we are aligned to Blackhill and could not get STV Glasgow due to distance from transmitter.

It'll be interesting to see what the channel revamp produces on Wednesday.

"You're not missing much πŸ˜‰ "

So I believe.

Just an excuse to rerun old material ?

Has STV produced anything since Taggart for either local consumption or the network - except news, weather and current affairs etc. ?

Just to sell advertising space. Stv almost went bankrupt not so long ago. They are contractually obliged to produce homegrown entertainment and they do it... cheaply.

STV makes a lot of stuff you probably don't realise. Stuff like Catchphrase, The Link, Antiques Roadtrip and Dr Finlay. They produce for Sky, BBC etc as well as STV. Just a shame they don't make more SCOTTISH TV and I don't mean a weak Glasgow soap like BBC Scotland.

I think the time they were on thin ice was when the ITV network was trying to screw them on advertising.

Still, STV2 is a waste of time much like most of the "higher" channels.

I was meaning watchable decent drama - Dr.Finlay falls into the category, but not the other routine stuff IMO - and it's a while since Dr.F. was produced, 20 years or so.

They certainly got into a mess over the advertising litigation.

Didn't do themselves much good with the network logo dispute - that alienated a lot of viewers.

The outgoing head of STV was interviewed on GMS earlier - said that STV 2 had 85% coverage of Scotland and was available in half of all households.

I must be thick - how do those numbers match up ?

Can't get it here on terrestial or freesat.

Surely meant tuned in at half of Scottish households?
